Acupuncture for Hay Fever
Many people suffer from the distressing symptoms of hay fever during spring and summer. This is an over reaction of the bodies immune system to pollen. Conventional medicine suppresses these symptoms with anti histamine, steroids etc, but has no effect on future prevention.
Hay fever – Treatment of acute symptoms:
Acupuncture is a very successful treatment at dealing with the summer symptoms. These include red itchy eyes and itchy soft palate, runny nose, sneezing and generally feeling unwell. Your acupuncturist will take a full case history and give you tailor made treatments.
We also have a very effective herbal prescription which successfully clears these symptoms.
Clients then have a choice of whether to use a natural medicine without side effects, or anti histamine, steroids etc.
Preventative treatment:
We advise acupuncture treatment in late winter to prevent hay fever symptoms occurring in spring and summer. A course of Chinese herbal medicine is also effective in preventing summer symptoms. Both are designed to strengthen and balance the immune system.
